In this immersive session, you’ll learn to transfer vibrant pigments from flowers and leaves onto fabric or paper, crafting unique, natural prints. Ideal for all skill levels, we’ll explore selecting materials, preparing botanicals, and hammering out stunning designs.

Tataki Zome: Japanese-inspired plant arts, offers a delightful combination of beautiful blooms, stress relief, and unexpected results—a perfect recipe for a sunny afternoon of creativity. Led by artist and educator Raneem Meknas, this class guides you in creating vibrant botanical prints by hammering or “pounding” flowers onto paper. You’ll also discover techniques to shift the color of plant pigments and enhance prints with watercolor, using simple materials and techniques to create stunning floral art. 

Not only does TatakiZome offer a journey into creativity and mindfulness, but it also champions environmental sustainability. While the class provides all necessary flowers and botanicals, students are welcome to bring their own wildflowers to experiment. The nearby trail offers opportunities to collect additional plants, adding to the natural charm of the experience.
